Golf Tournament



The Sonic GABL Golf Classic presented by SumnerOne benefits programs of the GABL Youth Sports Foundation. The tournament began in 1998 to raise funds to establish a scholarship program for families who needed assistance in order for their children to play in the Great American Basketball League. The scholarship program was launched in 2000-01 and has provided more than $155,000 in scholarships in 21 years. Proceeds from the golf classic continue to support this program.


Larry Racunas , along with several other dads, founded the Great American Basketball League (GABL) in 1974 with about 80 boys on 10 teams. Currently, GABL serves over 8,000 boys and girls in the Kansas City metropolitan area.  The link below allows you to donate to our GABL Scholarship fund in Larry's honor. Your donation to the GABL Scholarship Fund will help offset the costs for families and their children who would otherwise not be able to afford to play youth basketball. Thank you for your generosity.
