Welcome to the GABL Youth Sports Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation serving the youth from throughout the Greater Kansas City area. The organization was founded in 1974 as the Great American Basketball League, and since its inception, has been guided by its dedication to teaching skills, sportsmanship and fair play.
In 2009, the name of the corporation was changed to the GABL Youth Sports Foundation, Inc., to allow for a more integrated approach to fundraising, position the organization to make a larger impact on the development of our youth through sports and provide a broader outreach of our programs and services. The Foundation considers its programs to be a service to the community and acknowledges that its success is dependent upon the donation of time and expertise by volunteers from the community. Currently, programs are provided for nearly 6,000 boys and girls annually from Pre-K to 12th grade.
The two most significant initiatives of the Foundation are the Great American Basketball League, which is its flagship program serving over 4,500 boys and girls through competitive and recreation leagues and tournaments; and the GABL Academy, which is our primary program for basketball skill development, fitness and health for over 1,200 youth annually.
